Montana grown HARDNECK varieties -
PORCELAIN (White skins; large cloves; bold flavor)
Music: Colorful with rich, strong flavor that is not overly hot.
Rosewood: Beautiful well-formed bulbs with strong, robust flavor with a strong finish.
German Porcelain: Very strong and robust flavor, sticks around for a long time. Stores about 10 months.
Leningrad: Flavor starts off mild and becomes hot and strong.
Georgian Crystal: Large beautiful bulbs with delightfully robust flavor but not much hotness.
STANDARD PURPLE STRIPE (Shades of red skins; medium cloves; great for roasting; long storing)
Chesnok Red: Great all around garlic for cooking. Average about 8 cloves per bulb.
MARBLED PURPLE STRIPE (Purple skins; large cloves; rich flavor)
Metechi: The large bulbs are nicely colored and very firm. Long storing. Raw it tastes fiery but with a nice finish. Average 6 cloves per bulb.
HOW MUCH DO I NEED? One pound of garlic will plant roughly a 20- to 30-foot row.
WHEN DO I PLANT? We recommend planting in early October for harvest the following summer.
